The Source of My Authenticity

September  28th

I've taken the time to look up the word authentic, and it means being real, genuine, and true to an original source, set of values, or personal identity. I would add that the source for me is God. My identity, my value, worth, and personality all comes from him.

The world tries to strip away our identity and tell us who we should be or who we should strive to be. It even pushes values on us like money, status, material things, social media followers, likes, and views, etc. However, God reassures us that “in Him we live, and move, and have our being” (Acts 17:28). He also tells us, “Abide in me, and I in you” (John 15:4).

These Scriptures remind us that to truly know ourselves, we must first have a relationship with the One who created us—God, our Creator and our Father.

He says you are loved, valued, special, and more precious than rubies. And so, you are special to Him.

It’s important to know what God says about you in His Word. Meditating on the Word, communing with him in prayer, and ultimately trusting and allowing the Holy Spirit to work in you and grow you into the person God has called you to be is a daily journey.
